Arts & Culture

Cranstons FoodCumbria has maintained its history of being a popular home to poets, writers and painters. Today it hosts a range of theatres, film venues, music, festivals, galleries and exhibitions, studios, museums and workshops and events.

Cumbrian food is highly regarded for its unique regional and artisan products such as Herdwick lamb, Cumberland sausage, Damson gin, Grasmere gingerbread, cheeses, chutneys and breads, and a whole network of local breweries. Not to forget – it is also the birthplace of sticky toffee pudding in Cartmel! Each year Cumbria hosts the Lakes Chilli & Taste Cumbria festivals, along with lots of local farmers markets.
