Kirkstile Inn

The famous Kirkstile Inn, Loweswater is situated in a magical place, nestling amongst the stunning fells in the heart of the North West Lake District just a short distance from the Lakes of Loweswater and Crummock Water.

A Classic Lake District Inn

Providing food and shelter since Tudor times, Kirkstile offers 11 quality rooms including a family suite, log fires, oak beams and a wealth of history. A classic Lake District pub!

Local Food

Kirkstile’s team of six chefs are serious about good food. We have a deserved reputation for unpretentious, home-cooked meals and place great emphasis on local Cumbrian and Lake District suppliers.

Real Ale

Kirkstile Inn has one of the most famous bars in the Lake District, and one of the greatest beer gardens! Our brewery Cumbrian Legendary Ales produces the 2011 Champion Golden Ale of Britain, Loweswater Gold and our bar normally has a range of 6 cask beers available. Kirkstile Inn has won the award of CAMRA West Cumbria Branch Pub of the Year five times and in 2011 was runner up.

We have eleven rooms in total, seven in the main inn, a family suite of two rooms in our adjoining annex and two premium rooms with separate access. All rooms are well maintained and tastefully decorated and furnished. They are all individual and have a cosy cottage feel as befits a 16th Century Inn. All are en-suite.

Main Inn

There are four doubles, two twins and a four poster in the main inn. Although there are no dedicated singles, all rooms can be let for single occupancy. Rooms do not have televisions but there is a separate sitting room with a television.

Premier Rooms

We have two premier rooms with separate access. Both are ground floor with stunning views of Melbreak, a small sitting room and televsion. Room 8 which is accessed through the garden has an en-suite shower/wet room and room 9 an en-suite bath with shower above.

Family Suite

Our self contained family suite has one double room, one twin room and a bathroom. The rooms have a cottage feel with oak furniture. The suite is located in the adjoining annex and each room has a television.

The suite is especially popular with families providing more space and facilities than the family rooms normally found in most hotels. As they are separate from the main Inn parents can relax in the knowledge that babies and small children (who as we all know can be a little noisy at times!) are unlikely to disturb other guests.

We also offer a baby listening device which is very popular with parents who would like to have a bar meal once their children or babies are tucked up in bed asleep for the night ( we hope!)
